Effective Retail Pamphlet Brief
Share
A great retail pamphlet starts with a clear plan. The more direction you give your designer from the beginning, the smoother the design process becomes — and the better your final pamphlet will perform.
One of the first things to consider is product placement. Decide how many products you would like featured on the front page, inside pages, and back page. Most retailers use the front page for their strongest specials or best-value offers to immediately grab attention.
It’s also helpful to identify any key categories or departments you would like to highlight. For example, you may want a dedicated section for fresh produce, meat, bakery, or bulk specials. Grouping products by category creates a cleaner layout and makes the pamphlet easier for customers to shop.
Be sure to mention any important in-store promotions that should stand out. This could include:
- Combo deals
- Buy 1 Get 1 Free specials
- Weekend promotions
- Loyalty rewards
- New store openings
- Seasonal campaigns
Providing clear pricing, product descriptions, and high-quality images upfront will also help speed up the design process and reduce corrections later.
Lastly, think about the overall goal of the pamphlet. Is it meant to drive foot traffic, push bulk deals, promote a department, or build brand awareness? When your designer understands the objective, they can structure the layout to maximise impact.
